January 1, 2008
Greetings from H Crown Outfitters!
We hope that the New Year finds you healthy and happy. 2007 was another great
year for us; the hunting continues to be great, and the friendships made and
renewed continue to exceed our expectations. More than 50% of our hunters in
2007 were returning clients!
For those who have not hunted with us before, we have two separate hunting areas and offer whitetail, mule deer, and antelope hunts in October and November and turkey hunts in the spring. We operate in the northeast corner of Wyoming just north of Devil’s Tower on the edge of the Black Hills. We have hunting in both deer management Region A and Region C. Region A is a November deer hunt, Region C is an October deer hunt. Antelope seasons overlap deer seasons in both units. We also have hundreds of acres of prairie dog towns.
In 2007 we leased another 18,000 acres in Region A, bringing us to a total 33,000 acres in this unit and 46,000 acres for the ranch. The added space had given us even more flexibility to vary our hunting according to pressure, the rut cycle, and the weather. Both the Region A and the Region C units produced great deer this year including a few nice whitetails.
Our big game hunts require physical fitness. We don't hunt on wheels. Vehicles and ATV's are only used to get to an area, the actual hunting is on foot. Spot and stalk is our preferred choice and all animals are harvested by fair chase. We strive to provide you with a real western hunt and show you the best of animals and country.
We recommend you book your hunt early. The application deadline for deer and antelope is March 15th, spring turkey is January 31st, and fall turkey is August 15th. Big game licenses for nonresidents are by drawing; turkey tags were over-the-counter in 2007.
Please check through this website for additional information and photos. A full list of references are available on request. Thanks and we hope to see you next year.

More about Us
Location & Terrain. The ranch is located in
northeast Wyoming, 15 miles north of Devil's Tower national monument. We are
operating under a Medicine Bow / Routt National Forest Permit. Our hunting area
includes over 45,000 acres of private ranch land. The terrain consists of
timbered canyons, river bottoms, and rolling sagebrush hills bordering the Black
Hills. Camp is set in a unique area beside the Little Missouri River.
Big Game Hunts. We offer guided whitetail, mule deer, and antelope
hunting in October and November and turkey hunting in the spring and fall. If
your big game hunt finishes early and you have remaining time, we encourage you
to sharpen your shooting skills with varmints and predators, at no charge.
Varmint & Predator Hunts. We offer year round guided and unguided
hunts for varmint and predators. We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to
sharpen your shooting skills with hundreds of acres of prairie dog towns. The
prairie dogs are numerous as are coon, skunk, fox and coyote. Lodging, meals,
and drinks are provided. Rangefinders, spotting scopes, binoculars, shooting
benches, bags and a spotter are furnished on guided hunts.
Bookings. To maximize our hunters' experiences and provide a
higher quality trophy animal, we limit our bookings to 25-28 deer hunters and
12-15 antelope hunters per year. All big game hunts are guided, with no more
than two sets of hunters in the field at any one time. No persons shall be
discriminated against on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex,
religion, age, disability, political beliefs, and marital or familial status.
Meals & Accommodations. Our one room log cabins are furnished and
equipped with gas lights, gas heat, and gas cook stoves. As part of the rustic
experience, there is no electricity, phones or running water. Bedding, food and
beverages are furnished. Breakfast and supper meals are prepared for you over an
open camp fire.
Transportation. Transportation can be arranged to and from
airports at Gillette, Wyoming, or Rapid City, South Dakota. Meat and trophies
can be taken care of at the ranch and be made ready to go home with you.
